thedailyfeed: Colorado climber Jon Kedrowski came face to face with death on Mount Everest — and he told us all about it.  “He was in a sitting position on a steep slope. He turned and looked at me. His face was pretty much frozen up with icicles on his beard; he could barely open his eyes,” Kedrowski told The Daily of his encounter with a disoriented South Korean climber. “His hat was off. His mittens were off too. I looked and saw one of his mittens was off on the side of the trail. I unclipped from my rope and got it and brought it back to him.” “I tried to put the mitten onto the man’s hand, but his hand was frozen in a claw shape. He took his hand and in frustration or desperation waved it, and hit the mitten out of my hand,” Kedrowski said. Climbing solo, “There was no one to help me try to pick him up, and I thought, ‘You know what? He’s too far gone.’”
